Olive Oil Hacienda
Wonderful Olive Oil Hacienda located in the vicinity of the Mairena del Alcor-Brenes highway. On a gentle hill and accessible from the road. Its large farmhouse is currently carefully rehabilitated, previously dedicated to the breeding of purebred Spanish horses. In this process, several of its original elements had to be altered. It is therefore obviously & un doubtedly one of the best complete sets in the region.
The house is organised around two patios. The first is paved with fountain in the centre. In the access a half sill has been arranged on the ground. The left side corresponds to the old farmhouse and the tinado, converted into boxes. Above the stables there is an extensive barn that is still in use, which is accessed by a staircase from the patio. Aditionally the other patio has a very simple façade, which is currently painted in an olive tone, in which the name of the estate appears on tiles. In this courtyard, also paved, the two capital elements of the building are arranged: the manor in its right half and the oil mill in the background.
The Olive Oil Hacienda / mill followed the usual arrangement in three parallel warehouses. The one at the back was that of the beam press, which was then consequently transformed into a large room, maintains its original structure and simple beams.
Equally important the hacienda shows an excellent state of conservation, after having undergone a significantly comprehensive rehabilitation process. It can furthermore serve as an example of what is happening with more fortunate farms, which are adapting to current needs through reforms that tend to undeniably maintain the original structures, while introducing certain changes, such as the development of the manor at the expense of agricultural dependencies, coupled with respecting the traditional, as in this case.
